SUPER POWERS: Ability to project a beam or field of gravity modification. Can increase or decrease the gravity around any given object (including herself).

ORIGIN: Gail's father, Guy, a wealthy industrialist, came into possession of two gravity-controlling power belts when his company unearthed the ruins of what is believed to be an alien spaceship. Guy used one of the belts to become the world's first publicly-known superhero, "Gravity Guy," and founded Heroes, Inc. Several years later, when the original members were in great danger, a 14-year old Gail broke into her father's museum and retrieved the second power belt to save Heroes, Inc. and become Gravity Girl (against her father's objections!)

HISTORY: Nightshadow and SunGod have long been in competition over Gravity Girl's affections. Gail's true love was Nightshadow, but following his untimely death at the hands of DeathMaster, she became engaged to SunGod (alias Trevor Blaine). Following Nightshadow's unexpected resurrection (see issue #1), Gail broke off her engagement to Sun God, and has just renewed her relationship with Nightshadow.

KNOWN RELATIVES: Guy Maharis (aka Gravity Guy)-father, Adele Maharis -mother/deceased, Leeza Smith-Maharis (aka Sentry I) -stepmother.
